Before you come

Where do we meet?

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Friday Night Skate is free and run entirely by volunteers.

Where can I park a car?

The Vondelpark is in central Amsterdam, on-street parking can be very expensive. However de schipluidenlaan is free after 19:00. For recent pricing see amsterdam.nl/parking.

And by bike?

There is Plenty of places to store your bike near the start or finish

Amsterdam skate shops: This is Soul (around the corner). The Skate Dokter (amsterdam west)

During the skate

How long is the route?

Usually 20–25 km, taking around 2½ hours including a break.

How fast does it go?

Comfortable pace, the group stays together. Crew (blockers and marshalls) make sure we ride as one.

What if I can’t keep up?

No problem. When the group is stopped, move to the front so you get a longer rest. If you’re really struggling, talk to a marshall and you can leave the tour cleanly.

Are there breaks?

Yes - one short break (10–15 min) about halfway. Bring water with you; not every break has a café nearby.

Does it go on in the rain?

Rain or wet asphalt: No, because skating wet streets is dangerous. Check the homepage or turn on notifications.

What is the live map?

At /live you can follow the group’s position during the skate - useful if you join late or get separated.

Skateboards are also allowed (it might be hard to keep up with the group)

Do I need lights?

No, but it's a lot more fun and it’s good for safety.

Can I join as a beginner?

You are always welcome give it a try if we feel it's to risky we will let you know, and you can always stop halfway through. For beginners we have the Entry Skates with a shorter route and a free skate lesson beforehand see the agenda.
