What is Friday Night Skate Amsterdam?
Friday Night Skate Amsterdam - FNS for short - is a free weekly skating tour that has rolled through the city every Friday evening since 1997. Skaters meet up in Vondelpark to inline skate a roughly 20-kilometre loop together, led by an experienced crew that guides the group safely through Amsterdam traffic. No registration, no membership - just subscribe to push notifications for the go/no-go and show up on time.
How does the Friday-night skate work?
Meet at 20:00 in Vondelpark, roll out at 20:30. The route of the week is announced on this page beforehand. We only skate when roads, weather, and visibility allow - check this page or your push notifications for the status.
Who is this Amsterdam skate for?
FNS is for skaters who can independently skate and brake on bike paths in a big group. Not sure about your level, or just starting out? The monthly Entry Skate is slower paced and includes a free clinic beforehand - see the agenda for the next one.
What do you need?
Inline skates and solid braking technique. We recommend wearing a skating helmet plus wrist, elbow and knee pads, especially for first-timers. Make sure you're visible in the dark too. Read the full safety guidelines before joining.
